June 25-26. This is a golden opportunity for those of us with Kooikerhondjes in the Michigan area to interact with show judges and introduce judges to our dogs.
Last year, more than 200 current and future Sporting Group judges made their way to the Ortonville Recreation Area in Michigan to participate in two days of superb presentations on the standards of various AKC Sporting Breeds.
This year, thanks to an invitation from the Michigan Sporting Dog Association, the Dutch Kooikerhondje will be included in those breed presentations.
Four presentations will be made each day, Saturday and Sunday, with lunchtime demonstrations of hunting and training for Retrievers, Pointing breeds, and Spaniels.
Kooikerhondje Presentation: Participants will listen to a discussion as written by breed specialist, FCI Judge Diana Striegel, and view the illustrations selected by Ms. Striegel as exemplars of the breed. Then a hand’s on demonstration will follow, with judges using their newfound knowledge to evaluate the Kooikerhondjes present. This hand’s on workshop is designed to assist in focusing judges’ eyes on the good points of our breed with a renewed effort to speak only of the positive points of each animal.
This is where help is needed!
Please find time to travel to Michigan to help educate our future judges.
We need between 8 and 12 dogs for judges to evaluate during the hands-on portion,
both males and females.
Please come and share in this unique and invaluable weekend teaching those who will evaluate our dogs in the AKC show ring!
