The Nederlandse Kooikerhondje is an ancient breed, appearing in the works of the Dutch Masters as early as the 17th Century. They were brought to near-extinction during World War II, and only became a recognized breed in The Netherlands in 1971. . . .

The Kooikerhondje is a harmoniously built orange-red parti-colored small sporting dog of almost square body proportions. He moves with his head held high; in action the well-feathered waving tail is carried level with, or above the topline. The ears have black hair at the tip, the so-called earrings. The dog is presented with a natural, untrimmed coat. . . .

In keeping with the bylaws and philosophy of the club, and to protect and advance the Kooikerhondje, the KCUSA Code of Ethics has been established.

The primary function of the Kooikerhondje Club of the United States (KCUSA) Health and Genetics committee is to provide education in regard to major health and temperament problems to allow for continued improvement of the overall health of the breed.

We strive to promote and educate American Kennel Club judges and exhibitors in the form and function of the Nederlandse Kooikerhondje in order to preserve the breed in its original form as from the country of origin.

The Kooikerhondje Club of The United States Rescue Program is dedicated to the protection and preservation of the Kooikerhondje.
